On day four of creation, God creates and finishes the sun, moon, and all the stars. God also demonstrates his forethinking by explaining the purpose of this part of creation as a cosmic clock for all living creation he will soon place on the earth. This is different from Genesis 1:4 because here God divided the light form the darkness and then named them accordingly. On day four he created the sun, moon, and stars and purposed them with laws, statutes, ordinances, and principalities to continue in the separation of day and night and for signs, seasons, days, and years.
When we compare heaven and the earth to all the other bodies in the universe and say there must be life out there, we must consider the difference in creation between the heaven and earth and all the other bodies. The reason we have never found life anywhere except heaven and earth is because God took three days to form the heaven and the earth so that they would support life as we know it and took only one day to create all the billions of other objects we see. We can therefore infer that all the other bodies we see in the universe are not designed to support life, they were designed for signs, seasons, days, and years. Strangely enough, this is also the exact scientific data we currently have, that there have never been any forms of life discovered anywhere in the universe except in heaven and on earth as is in accordance with the original design. This single fact does make angels and humans special and unique because heaven and earth were created specifically for the benefit of life.
Genesis 1:14-19
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night; and let them be for
signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the
heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule
the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide
the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
I know it will be argued that because the firmament of earth is life sustaining as established on day two of creation, that the firmament of heaven must also mean it is life supporting and therefore we should find life everywhere in the universe. I do not disagree with this logic I only specify what that life is – angels. This is clearly outlined in the book of Job.
Job 38:4-7
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
declare, if thou hast understanding.
5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?
or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened?
or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7 When the morning stars sang together, and
all the sons of God shouted for joy?
If you notice on day two there is a distinction made between the waters divided by the firmament just as there is a distinction made here on day four. There is also a difference in the form of life found because the angels would have been created between the start of day one and the end of day two. The creation of angels can only be interpreted this way because it is after time started. Angels are not from Everlasting because God tells us there are none like him. God also tells us that the angels were witness to the laying of the corner stone of earth.
As the picture above shows, posted by Ken Ham of whom I respect and mostly agree with, even he gets creation wrong. While earth was started on day one it was without form and void until day three. This allows time for God to have created the angels and the angels watch the laying of the foundations of the earth. It also makes the time for the Higgs field to allow matter to gain mass. This is where the “stuff” comes from that the earth was created out of and continues to follow a logical timeline of how God used the laws of physics to create the universe.
